Congratulations to Katy for identifying Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor).
According to Mushroom Expert, Turkey Tail is one of the most common mushrooms in North American woods. It is considered a “white-rot” fungus because it feeds on the lignin of hardwoods and helps return nutrients to the soil.
Each Monday we’ll post a new mystery and identify the previous week’s winner. They’ll receive an ASNV hat or tote bag.
